GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Ji Bei Chuan Rice Noodles & Ramen is set to open at 1704 Western Avenue in Guilderland, in the former Gennaro’s Pizza Parlor space. NORTH ELBA, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Last week, a group of New York State Forest Rangers traveled into the Adirondacks to retrieve a hiker with an injured ankle. A team of seven rangers visited the Van Hoevenberg Trail on Monday, July 24. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The rangers reached the subject, an Auburn woman whose ankle was in unstable condition, near the trail's junction with Phelps Mountain. The hiker was placed in a backpack carrier once her ankle was stabilized. She was carried a mile to Marcy Dam, and then driven by a vehicle to Adirondack Loj Road. Her husband met her and the hikers there, and transported her to a hospital.The Van Hoevenberg Trail connects to Mt. Van Hoevenberg, intersecting with the trail to Phelps Mountain. HUNTER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On July 25, DEC Forest Rangers responded to reports that multiple individuals were stranded due to flash flooding. Rescues were conducted at Kaaterskill Falls and Fawn's Leap. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! One individual was located stranded below the lower falls at Kaaterskill Falls. Ranger Peterson managed to rescue the subject by tying a rope to a tree and wading through the creek. The water was approximately four feet deep with a strong current.DEC Forest Rangers then located seven individuals stranded on the side of Kaaterskill Creek. A high-angle rope rescue system was utilized to pull two subjects to safety. Forest Rangers and first responders set up an inflatable boat and rescued the remaining subjects. No one was injured. The Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday announced that it objects to one of Suncor Energy’s new air-quality permits and kicked it back to Colorado environmental regulators to make changes that would further limit pollution coming from the Commerce City refinery.It is the second time the EPA has rejected the Title V air permit for Suncor’s Plant 2, which refines oil into gasoline and other fuels. A man was arrested after allegedly fatally stabbing another man near restrooms at a beach in Santa Monica Monday afternoon.The incident was reported around 2:05 p.m. in the 2000 block of the beach, Santa Monica police said.Responding officers found the unconscious victim on the east side of the beach restrooms with at least one stab wound to the chest. The 27-year-old man was taken to a hospital where he eventually died from his injuries. Stabbing suspect in Santa Monica arrested Witnesses who stayed in the area said they heard an argument between the victim and the suspect in a breezeway next to the men’s restrooms. Three men are being sought in connection with a smash-and-grab robbery at an Irvine jewelry store that was caught on video.The incident was reported around 12:20 p.m. Monday at a store near Jamboree Road and Michelson Drive, according to the Irvine Police Department.Three men were caught on video smashing display cases at an Irvine jewelry store on Aug. 1, 2023. The Department of Homeland Security has issued new guidance to help "stateless" noncitizens who want to obtain immigration status or have submitted other requests to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. A stateless individual is a person who is not legally considered a citizen of any country, and therefore may be denied legal identity and struggle to access education, healthcare, marriage and job opportunities, the DHS said in a news release. “Individuals can be born stateless or become stateless because of discrimination, war and conflict, or changing borders and laws,” the DHS release said. “The new guidance clarifies when and how USCIS may consider a noncitizen stateless for the purpose of adjudicating immigration benefits or other requests.” Federal officials believe the new guidance will not only provide stateless individuals with more opportunities but also give them more peace of mind when it comes to their citizenship status. “DHS is fully committed to addressing ...Latest news
