Paris (CNN) — The spire of Notre Dame, crowned by a brand new golden rooster, regained its place in the Paris skyline last week.As tourists and Parisians gathered outside the UNESCO-listed cathedral to admire the return of one of its most emblematic features — for now, still encased in scaffolding — the Notre Dame worksite remained in full swing. Nearly 500 craftspeople are busy with rebuilding efforts, working to ensure the Parisian landmark is ready for its grand reopening to the public less than a year from now.“It’s fascinating to see how something of such historical value is being restored,” said Stephan Book, a tourist visiting Paris from Sweden with his daughter and 80-year-old father. “And the ambition to do it all in five years,” he added, “It’s like when Kennedy said (humans) were going to the moon.”On a recent visit to the construction site, President Emmanuel Macron promised works were “on schedule” for Notre Dame to open to the public on December 8, 2024, five years and...

La verdadera historia del origen de la Navidad

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 14:07:07 GMT

After weeks of an upward trajectory, the Chicago Bulls stumbled on a low-energy night as they dropped a 109-95 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. The Cavaliers were missing the majority of their starters due to injury, but the size of their secondary rotation was enough to disrupt the Bulls and snap a three-game win streak. Despite the loss, the Bulls still sit 10th overall in the Eastern Conference — a small but important step up in the standings. Here are four takeaways from the game.1. Offense is out of sync as 3-point shooting dipsAfter weeks of playing a high-tempo, high-assist style, the Bulls got stuck in a stymied offense against the Cavaliers. The unit you’re renting has been deemed ‘illegal.’ Now what?

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 14:07:07 GMT

If a rental unit in Ontario is found to be “illegal” in some way, tenants could face eviction – but they still have rights and proper procedures must be followed. What makes a unit “illegal”?Kevin Laforest from Scarborough Community Legal Services says a unit can be deemed illegal if it fails to meet certain city or fire code standards.“The two common things that we’ll see is either the fire department has come in to do an inspection and found concerns with respect to the fire code – could be that there aren’t proper egresses in and out of a unit, especially for basement units. It could be that the fire systems are not up to code. Or the city has actually come in and said that part of the unit was built without proper permits and therefore it has to be reverted back to its original state,” he says. The city or fire department will then issue the landlord an order detailing the infractions and the work required to rectify the issues...

LONDON (AP) — A second suspect was arrested in the alleged theft of a work by the elusive street artist Banksy of a stop sign adorned with three military drones, London police said Sunday. A man in his 40s was in custody on suspicion of theft and criminal damage, the Metropolitan police said. A suspect in his 20s who was arrested Saturday was released on bail.Witnesses who arrived at a street corner Friday in the south London section of Peckham less than an hour after Banksy posted a photo of the work on Instagram said they were stunned to watch a man with bolt cutters remove the sign as another man steadied a bike he stood on.The incident was captured in photos and video. Much of Banksy’s political and satirical art is critical of war, and many of his followers interpreted the work as calling for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. The Associated Press
