Dog sickened after ingesting discarded drugs at Studio City park

A routine walk at a Studio Park last week turned into a medical emergency for one pet owner after his dog was sickened by drugs it had found on the ground. Andrew Epstein told KTLA that he and his dog, Nova, walk in Woodbridge Park nearly every day, but that after one walk last week, his 4-year-old hound wasn’t herself when the pair returned home. “Having trouble walking, wobbling, her eyes started getting glassy,” Epstein said of Nova’s condition at home. After a visit to a 24-hour animal hospital, the vet informed Epstein that Nova had somehow ingested THC and cocaine. “And that's when we were absolutely shocked, just stunned and the vet was asking, ‘Do you know what she ate, how much she ate,’ and we said, ‘We have no idea,’” he said. It’s not the first time something like this has happened. In August, a 15-year-old rescue dog was permanently blinded after eating something containing oxycodone that it found while on a walk in Santa Monica. REDWOOD CITY – The San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office says it will not file criminal charges against five Redwood City police officers who shot and killed an armed man last fall.In a 17-page report released Tuesday, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said the officers were justified in using lethal force against 36-year-old San Carlos resident Abran Gutierrez after he held his girlfriend and two young children hostage at gunpoint.“This was a dynamic, traumatic event where toddlers and infants, the most vulnerable amongst us, were placed in direct threat of great bodily harm or death by the reckless and dangerous acts of Mr. Gutierrez,” Wagstaffe said. “I recognize that each officer on scene that day was required to make a series of rapid decisions as they formulated evolving strategies on how best to ensure that they and innocent civilians all made it safely home that day.”The encounter unfolded around 3 p.m. on Nov. 15 near the intersection of Beech Street and El Camino Rea...SFSU president says Riley Gaines event was 'deeply traumatic' for trans community

"Last Thursday, Turning Point USA hosted an event on campus that advocated for the exclusion of trans people in athletics. The event was deeply traumatic for many in our trans and LGBTQ+ communities, and the speaker’s message outraged many members of the SF State community," Mahoney wrote. ‘Sav...Bay Area water officials end water shortage emergencies in unanimous votes

NEW YORK (AP) — An attorney for Donald Trump is seeking a one-month delay in the trial regarding a columnist’s claims that Trump raped her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s, contending that his client’s right to a fair trial depends on a “cooling off” period following the former president’s indictment and arraignment. The trial was set for April 25. In a letter Tuesday to Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, attorney Joseph Tacopina cited “the recent deluge of prejudicial media coverage” surrounding Trump’s arrest and court appearance in arguing for a delay. The former president was charged March 30 with 34 felony counts related to allegations that he paid hush money to an adult film star, Stormy Daniels. The civil case before Kaplan was brought against Trump in November by E.
